Pentecost Day of Gifts

On Pentecost Sunday 8th June we will celebrate the many ways in which parishioners use their gifts to build up the parish. We invite all the groups in the parish eg cleaners, musicians , SVP, Ministers of the Word and Eucharist, EM Players and many more, including not specifically parish based groups but in which parishioners are active eg Catenians and Newman Association to showcase their activities at a small event following Pentecost Day Mass.

There will be a list at the back of church for groups to sign up and we also invite everyone to pray for the success of the day and that the Holy Spirit will help discern how we can use the gifts we have been given. We will have a special prayer day on the 30th May. For further information please contact Judith Smeaton judith.smeaton@btinternet,com

Pentecost – Day of gifts

There are many different gifts but it is always the same Spirit, there are many ways of serving but it is always the same Lord. There are many different forms of activity, but in everybody it is the same God who is at work in them all. The particular manifestation of the Spirit granted to each one is to be used for the general good.

1 Cor.12:4-7

Prayer for English Martyrs Parish

Come Holy Spirit. Pour out your gifts on our parish. Wake us up to your wonderful presence in our lives. Help us to use the gifts you give to build up your Church, grant us grace to serve each other with love and peace and to receive your gifts with open, thankful hearts. We praise you Holy Spirit, one with the Father and the Son. We adore and glorify you. May your love always reign in our hearts. Amen
